How many nandroids is too many nandroids?

Just a couple quick questions:

I recently read somewhere that if you have to many nandroid backups it is bad and may cause the backup program to malfunction? I can't find where I read that but was wondering if someone could let me know please?

Also is there a app to view your ND backups?

I have about 12 on my phone and have never had an issue.
And how do you mean view them? If you use astro file manager you can go into /sd/nandroid and see them all.

ohh ok cool, i'm done to 5 now. i deleted only about 6 of them

and an app that could look in the backup and tell us what it is etc. i know we create the name of the folder but wouldn't it be neat if you could see everything inside?

I just delete my nandroid backups each time after I make a new one. Makes it easier for me to keep up with.

LOL nice. I kept a couple different ones i.e. my base phone so if i wanna unroot, then a couple others after that.

Gotcha. There is, sort of. It's being worked on right now. I put a post up about it the other day. More or less you can load a rom into it and itll tell u what apks and everything are in it. I don't think itll tell you the base but that should be easy to figure out if you name it right.

The program won't malfunction, period. Repeated flashing of the memory can cause it to fail, though. And not completely, but byte by byte.

I've worked a lot with car ECUs and flashing ROMs on them. The EEPROM in the ECU in my WRX is rated at 100 flashes and people have done it thousands of times without any problems. You can read/flash your ROM as many times as you need and you'll be fine.

I had over 20 nandroid backups on my SDCARD at one point.
I now just keep 4 on the sdcard. I keep a bunch on a separate flash drive though.
I always keep a base install of the current ROM I'm running in both nandroid and clockwork, as well as a fully configured current ROM in both nandroid and clockwork.

I just mount USB and manage backups through Windows Explorer, use ADB or use ASTRO.
