I have android ringtone picker set as the app to use to pick ringtones and notifications but I only have the stock options. I can choose any mp3 for my ringtone but can't see anything other than stock for text sounds.
Any ideas other then texting the clip to the phone?

I use the app zedge. There is a lot of selection of tones and you can use them for notifications

I don't know about your app, but with stock you can select music instead of android system and you will see your mp3's.

You can use an app like ringdroid to make the tone shorter than the whole song and ringdroid gives you the option to set it as a ringtone or notification tone and they will appear in android tones.

If you're rooted, you can place those tones in /system/media/audio/notifications and they will be in Android system as if they are stock tones.
