Galaxy Nexus Release Date of December 9 is Official!

There goes "official" haha...I know you guys say your sources are reliable, but "official" and "confirmed" really should not be used unless its from Verizon itself. man, this is the weirdest launch in history...

Well the screenshot in the OP is 'OFFICIAL', and from VZW. Now if they changed something, that's new. I personally am not getting the GNex but I know how much all you guys are looking forward to it and am just trying to keep you updated as best as I can with information I know is reliable and true at the time of posting. And I really do hope this delay is just a rumor and you guys get what you all have been waiting for this Fri.

Another thing which leads me to believe this isn't true is that COSTCO shows a Dec 9 release date also.

I don't know, that's something that could be easily faked. I'm not upset at you obviously, you're just doing your job and getting us the rumors we all want, but using the words "official" and "confirmed" are jumping the gun unless VZW makes a statement, or sends out a release. Leaks, screenshots, blurry pics and "reliable" sources have been wrong on Oct 27th, November 3rd, November 10th, November 21st, November 27th, November 28th, December 8th and now December 9th.

Luckily, I had a feeling all this wasn't legit so I didn't get too excited this time like the last 18 times haha

Ok as I am sure some of you have heard, the Dec 9 date is in question. It's not ruled out as many VZW stores are still reporting it will be available Friday. 'Official' dates change all the time, especially in this technology driven world we live in. Some reports are not saying Monday.

My personal opinion is that this might be a regionally released device, meaning not everyone everywhere is going to see it on the same day.

We are continuing to gather all the info we can get and will keep you guys updated. Fingers Crossed..

Journalism is about integrity and reporting the truth. Why were you too stubborn to change the topic title for accuracy? Not trying to troll or offend, it just makes absolutely zero sense and I'm trying to understand.

At the time of posting, I considered that as 'Official' as it has been taken directly from VZW. And perhaps you were right in changing the title, you live and learn. But changing the title isn't as easy as it would seem because once it's changed, it reflects on all link-backs to the thread. If I am wrong, I am wrong and will eat my words. Now after speaking to a VZW rep, they said it may be regional. Like I said, I'm just as excited for you guys getting as you are, so I do my best to verify all info I post and don't use words like 'Officially or Confirmed' unless I really believe it is fact. I'll continue to keep you guys updated.

This is a site that is intended for opinions, support, and general discussions about various topics in relation to the smartphone market. I appreciate Shadez and whoever else can help us learn more as they hear stuff. I trust their abilities to deliver if nothing else, interesting topics of discussion. If you DEMAND 100% accuracy, then don't come to a site like this. Stay on vzw.com or somewhere like that. It gets obnoxious reading about "Journalism Ethics" instead of the Gnex. I would much rather have Shadez be off by a day, and still have fun things to read than to get on here and have to hear someone rant about what their opinions of ethical reporting are.

Let's not blow this out of proportion. I agree with you that this isn't mainstream journalism and not required by the same set of standards.
But what Briankbl was asking seemed reasonable and made sense to me: Just change the title.

It's not nor ever was "official". it's not about journalism or ethics, just being accurate.

I dont think anyone thinks Shadez doesn't work hard or doesn't do his job right. It was just about the choice of words. I'm not looking for WSJ-like journalism when I come here, but if you say something is official or confirmed you're putting yourself out there. No biggie, its not the first time the thing has been "delayed" :biggrin:...and Shadez is nowhere near as wrong as DL always is haha

Well with still no official announcement from VZW,I'm hoping this delay thing is another of the million times that droid-life is wrong about and we still get it on the 9th haha

Think this change of news for the Nexus has gotten us all in a sour mood....

Many of us took it as an "official" unofficial announcement because of the multiple sources. Whether this was taken with a grain of salt or not was your decision. Many of us didn't believe because it was not an official word from Verizon, and I imagine this crowd isn't as affected. I personally wasn't believing any release date till yesterday and am disappointed now, and I blame myself, I caved in lol.

As for the news team, they do a great job and keep us up to date. It's understandable why it was posted Dec. 9th as official because all the evidence given was pretty solid. I haven't read if there's been a confirmed "delay" (no official release date so not really a delay), but Friday can still happen, especially if these stores have units in stock.

This whole Nexus fiasco has affected everyone. You got the ones who don't care for this phone sick of hearing about it and the ones who care are disappointed week after week. However, I'd like to point out there's no obligation to post in these threads and add "fuel to the fire".
