My VZW store told me without hesitation that it is on the 9th. Two of the employees at the counter agreed actually, so, if they end up being wrong and it doesnt come out Friday they should have to give me one on Friday anyways!
It would be nice if it was Friday. It will be a nice early bday present for myself. My plan is to be the first one at the store, set up some basic stuff and then be at work by 12 PM so I can show my phone off to everyone!
I will probably be crucified for asking this, but I am pretty new to the game and am wondering what the top reasons are for the hype on this phone. Does it have ICS? Other than that I just can't figure out why it's so popular. Again, I'm not dogging on the phone, just curious.
Its a nexus phone, meaning it is controlled by Google, rather than VZW or motorola, HTC, or Samsung. Google Nexus phones are the most up to date phones software wise to buy. They are also skin free and are pure Android. Nexus phones run Android the way it was designed.
After seeing this report I was in the mall and swung by the VZW kiosk. The guy wasnt the one that had received the call, someone else had, but he said the word was the 9th that they were getting them. He was also joking that hopefully it comes true bc everyone and their mother was asking about it.
Is this for Big red stores or is best buy going to get it that day as well? I got the Razr and my 30 days are running out. Anyone think I should trade in for the Nexus? My only complaint of the Razr is the non removable battery.
Did you purchase your Razr from Verizon Corporate Location or a Retailer? I've been seeing a lot of people mentioning a 30 day timeline. Verizon Wireless changed its return policy Jan 2011 that reduced the period from 30 days to 14 days. A restocking fee of $35 is assessed even if you walkout the door and have buyers remorse and decide to return it within the same hour. If the location you purchased the device grants a 30 day exchange period, good for you. Most if not all retailers followed suit and changed their return policy to mirror Verizon. If not and your past the 14 day period, it's going to be tough. Best Buy has their own policy but they could reject your exchange based on their discretion.
Welcome to the next generation of smartphones - I would not be surprised to see more phones follow suit .. one of the highest sold smartphone to date, the Iphone does not have a removable battery and 5+ generation later, it seems to be irrelevant even to those that feel insecure about not being able to remove the battery.
razr or nexus - you could never go wrong, purely a win / win situation what ever you decide to do!

It's the LATEST AND GREATEST syndrome - I recall during the CES shows and on the retail front, all the talk was this dual core processor phone made by Motorola Mobility called ' BIONIC ', after various reasons and delays, it happily released nearly 9 months after its debut. At the time and up to the release date, it had the hype, demand and most rumored phone. People passed on the 1st 3 4GLTE phone released by Verizon to have a hand on the 'BIONIC' , in only 2 months - it has now taken the back seat to the DROIID RAZR ...
Of course when it comes to the LATEST AND GREATEST OF GADGETS come latest in technology built in and the Samsung Nexus is sure wont disappoint.
I see you have the droid bionic - regardless, you have an awesome phone.
No reason to feel even slightly disappointed - Some retailers might not get it exactly on December 9th but will have it's share by the peak of the holiday shopping season. The December 9th date is official , the screenshot of the Samsung Nexus on the VZW intranet site is genuine and real - I've seen it myself as well as a bunch of QRG and write ups - All the rest of the marketing collateral should be arriving between tomorrow and Friday.
I could understand why your local dealer maybe hesitant to confirm the date because good chance is they won't have it in stock at release date - Big Red has their hand on distribution and usual protocol would leave the smaller retailers on their terminals once the fulfillment sight is up to hopefully grab a what they are allotted. Most of the time, they are left waiting for the next round ...
Good luck on your Nexus hunt - If you have a relationship with your local dealer - go see them, maybe they will offer something if you wait a bit should they be left without any come Dec 9th

This is true but if really upset about the $35 just call main verizon lines. I had my iphone for 15 days and started to hate it. I called them and told them I hated the phone and i didnt want to pay the $35. She said no. I said ok not uping my 2 year contract and take the phone back. Then she instantly said fine I waved it lol :icon_ lala:
