To ensure it's a clean esn what's the best way?
activate the phone or do I actually have to call Verizon?

my other phone is still active...

I want to So this while the seller is with me.

Any help would be great

If possible, ask the seller to meet you at a VZW store. They can tell you right there if it's clean and will activate it on the spot. Plus it's safer to make the deal in a public location.

You also can call *611 or (800) 922-0204 and provide them with the identification number and they can tell you if it's been declared lost or stolen.

Dumb question here, where do we see our ESN since we can't open the back where it normally is. I don't see it in About under settings, when I sold my Razr the guy called Verizon but they couldn't tell him where to look for the number.

Obviously it was not stolen, but for future reference.

A couple ways but if you flip down the card door it's on a label there on the inside of the door. It's very tiny print but it's right at your fingertips.

There's a number combo you can dial and it pops up... like #63*# or something... trying to find that. Maybe that's just a Moto thing though...
