clearing ESN on droid A855

I bought a Droid A855 on Ebay. Turns out the ESN is assigned to someone else's account and the seller can't/won't help.

Is there any way to clear the ESN so that the phone is usable?

I think it has to be cleared through the carrier. In other words your probably screwed.

unfortunately not, all you have is basically the android equivalent to an iPod touch.

People, always get a bill of sale when buying phones from an individual.

If you bought it on eBay, you need to file a dispute. Also, you're probably the holder of a lost or stolen phone, the other possibility will be an account that is suspended or closed for non-pay. There will be no way to clear the ESN unfortunately.
