My wife's Eris suffered BADLY from the silent-call bug. Post 2.1 update, it is running beautifully. I've got an overclocked Droid on 2.2, and I have to confess even I'm envious of how smooth her phone is.

Clearly, there was something seriously grabbing CPU cycles (that presumably interfered with processing sound) that HTC fixed. I wishwishwish they would have posted a bugfix announcement, to satisfy the users who were pulling their hair out while trying to isolate the cause. We were so close to sending it in for a refurb replacement but (*fingers crossed*) so far it's acting like a brand new phone.
