According to bgill there were issues with incorporating this into the current build.

Unfortunately cvpcs is going to have to write his own version from scratch is the bottom line, I think, just like with the notification bar power widget and some other things.

Yeah, certain things are tied into other part of the rom, and would require ports of other code to get things to work.

That's why the status bar isn't a straight port.
