2.1 coming in a couple of days!

Okay, here's what I know. Android 2.1 is up on the AOSP. Google, Motorola, and Verizon have all said the Droid would get the update both a few days after 2.1 goes open-source AND before the end of January. I'd imagine the 25th or 26th.

The source started going up over a week ago. The SDK has been up for even longer than that.

The thing that makes me mad is having a device that is Brand New, with a Brand new OS. Then..2 months later, make the thing outdated. I am used to devices being outdated..but not in 2 freaking Months from the release. They could show us Droid owners some love, and stop fiddling with the broken Nexus 1.

Think of it like this. When the update rolls it will be RIGHT and ready. Not forced to to the OS being terrible. Rember the Storm:icon_ devil:

Oh, don't remind me of that crappy device.:icon_evil:

Please remember whatever you buy today is outdated on the day you buy it. There always is something new underdevelopment.

Not sure if that question was asked already, I tried searching this thread for similar questions with no luck.

I already have the leaked 2.1 rooted version installed, when the official is released do I need to restore to 2.0.1 to download the official?

Yes, it has been asked before, and you should not have too.

I wouldn't bank on that. The OTA updates are (usually) not full ROM flashes, but instead just update file changes. It could get sticky.

the storm wasnt a bad device. blackberry does do a lot right, but their OS is just dated compared to everything nowadays. 5.0 was a good jump for the os too once they got the bugs out of it, but it still just doesnt stand even close to level ground with todays OSs.

Agreed, but I never really pictured BB as a touch screen smartphone manufacturer

When is the update cominggg

Like the thread says, in a couple of days. We just don't know what couple of days those are.:)

In the meantime you can enjoy you Droid running 2.0.1 which is a fine platform. 2.1 will be nice and I am looking forward to it as well but it's not going to be the OS that fixes everything. Matter of fact it will probably break something here or there as most upgrades usually do. So just be patient, as soon as we find something out we will have it on our news page.
