I read somewhere that Motorola Europe said something along the lines of "the Milestone will be getting the 2.01 update soon, and the 2.1 update will follow in the next couple months." Being that the Droid is a few weeks ahead of the Milestone, maybe that means that the Droid will be getting the 2.1 update soon indeed?

It will get here when it gets here. I'm very happy with the current OS so I'm in no big hurry. I still think something will happen concerning 01/22 and if it does happen that way some people may start to get the update in about 3 days. That's based upon how 2.0.1 was released with 12/11 as the rumored date.

The thing that makes me mad is having a device that is Brand New, with a Brand new OS. Then..2 months later, make the thing outdated. I am used to devices being outdated..but not in 2 freaking Months from the release. They could show us Droid owners some love, and stop fiddling with the broken Nexus 1.

Chill out. Are you having serious issues with your current 2.01 operating system? Probably not. The 2.1 will be an upgrade but certainly it's nothing earth shattering. It will be here soon enough. In the meantime, sit back and relax, light some candles, take a bubble bath, sing to your significant other, do something, anything to get your mind off this tragedy.

Thanks for making me feel bad I dont have my droid yet and im still stuck with RIMs still not ready redo S2... If you already have a working android phone on 2.01 waiting a week or so for 2.1 shouldnt be a big deal.... If it is ill gladly ship you my old S2 when I upgrade this weekend.

Okay, here's what I know. Android 2.1 is up on the AOSP. Google, Motorola, and Verizon have all said the Droid would get the update both a few days after 2.1 goes open-source AND before the end of January. I'd imagine the 25th or 26th.

Well, it's not like they "rushed" on the OS for the Storm. It was a pos to start with, became an improved pos 6 months after the first upgrade and then turned into a 5.0 catastrophe 4 month later.

I certainly hope we don't have to wait months for a platform that already exist and is being used on the N1.

Dude just going through 2.1 update letdown sydrome. He thought he would have it by now; let up on him i guess he is venting onthe forum.
I just look as it as a device, as long as it works and the developers are continuing to push out improvements I am cool with it. It will update when it updates. Whether I have the update or not, I can still make calls, use the browser, send txts. Even with the update flash will not be available until adobe is done fixing potential problem and is ready to push it to google.
Now if you are just not liking the device turn it in and wait the device you want is at verizon.

I feel just as bad honestly for HTC. They've been waiting for updates for quite some time. I know from sources that internal testing has passed on the Droid, so it should roll before the month is over.
