I'm not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but I'm really curious if anyone knows if 2.2 will include Swype for the Incredible?

Thanks in advance for any help for a newbie!

PS - if 2.2 won't have it, can I buy it or do I just have to sign-up and hope the beta reopens? Thanks!

There's no indication that it will be included with it. Best bet is to sign onto the beta again.

Thanks. I don't get it, is swype only available on the Droid X? Does anyone know if you can buy it (I've never seen it on the marketplace)?

Swype is only available for any phone maker who licenses it for a specific model. The ones I know of are the Droid X, Droid 2 and the Galaxy S line of phones. As HTC has it's own proprietary keyboard it will probably never use Swype.

Found the apk and got it installed but it says it's expired?

I didn't realize that even w. the apk file, it can still block you from the beta?

Please don't post content like this on the forums. It is against the rules.

I for one have downloaded SlideIT, which I liked much better than Swype, and it works great on the Incredible. I liked it so much I upgraded from my Motorola Droid with the slide-out keyboard and went totally for the onscreen keyboard of the Incredible.

I have Swype on my Incredible and it is awesome. Someone turned me on with the app. After couple days of using it, I've grown accustom to its style of keyboarding.

I had Shapewriter for over a month, but I hated that the Landscape keyboard was no bigger than portrait.

    Loving Swype now.

    Thanks so much.

I signed up on the website. It says that it's closed and they will notify when available.

Do you think it is anywhere else?

    Thanks again, really appreciate it!

    You could try this.

Sent from the Matrix via payphone.

Sorry about having to do this, but we can't have any links up for downloading Swype from user to user as we can get in a fair amount of trouble from them. If y'all want to talk by e-mail, that's fine, but we can't post public links.

    Hmm,

Used both SWYPE and Shapewriter, preferring the latter.

SlideIT blows. I don't care for the way it predicts, but what is worse is that the symbols and numbers are all on a second page. No long press for anything on the main keyboard? why?

Last thing: On the HTC keyboard, the voice recognition seems to work better than the already good Android voice recognition. I would LOVE to see that microphone button on a swype-style keyboard!

I too gave up on trying to get swype on my DINC. I'm using SlideIt as well, works fine for my needs. I don't always use this input method but I do use it a lot..... If swype does resurface I'll give it a try, just not going to wait for something that could be a long time coming. Mean while I have an app that does a good job for me.
