Do without it for now and I'm sure you'll see that's the cause of the wifi battery usage. Then I guess it'll be a cost/benefit decision for you if you think a location based smartaction is worth it.

I turned it off just to see and unfortunately the wifi time usage is still going up. "Notify me" is unchecked and "auto-connect wifi" is unchecked. "Keep wifi on during sleep" is on never. I have no idea what else to do.

Has it been long enough for the graph to progress to see it's still using battery or not? Turn wifi on then back off and then refresh the battery graph. Just a thought.. I remember this exact thing happening to me a while back..

I think I found the solution. I just used advanced task killer to kill a bunch of apps in the tray and after I did that the wifi timer stopped going up. Now to do it one by one next time and check the wifi usage each time after I kill an app to see which one it is.

Well what I'm doing to check the time is actually clicking on the battery circle widget then clicking on the wifi usage. It takes me to a menu where it shows how much time it has been on for and I just keep refreshing it. This is how I know the time keeps going up.

I'm most interested in knowing what your history details screen shows because it shows a timeline of wifi, signal, GPS, screen etc. surely wifi line has ended now, right? even though it will still show on your battery use percentage and history till your next recharge.

Good call c4400, I always forget about smart action crap because I never use them.

Didn't make sense to have something running 24/7 to save battery four 6 hours.

"stroped" of my razr maxx, poo.

I wonder if it is more an issue with the phone. I am like lloydstrans in that I get I a lot of time out of my battery as well. I have the WiFi set to come on when available and have not noticed any significant extra battery usage because of this. To be fair I don't use Chrome a lot other then when needed when checking links from FB post. I have gotten over 55 hrs of use out of mine.

I must have misunderstood you, I wasn't really checking the history details screen as much although I know what you're talking about. I was using these screens:

On this screen I would click the WiFi usage then it takes me to the following picture.

On this screen is where I kept seeing the numbers increase and it reached to like 14 hours. Then I'd go back to the battery usage screen, refresh it, then click WiFi again and the seconds would be increasing which is how I knew it was still in use.

Do you have the WiFi set to come on through the WiFi settings or using the smart actions app? Jesus 55 hours.. you guys are all lucky. I can't seem to get that much out of mine with moderate use.

I don't use smart actions at all and just using the settings on the phone. Example is when I am home it auto connects to my network and it searches for open networks when I am out and about. Mine has been great on battery life, reason I brought up whether you have a phone issue.

I used to advise anybody contemplating using smart actions to try and use a time trigger instead of using location or WiFi as a trigger. The clock is always on and running. But, no more RAZR so I don't worry about bat rays any more. I'm a liar, I still obsess about it.

If it's not HD it might as well be a newspaper.

So let me get this straight.. You have wi-fi on all day long and when you're at home it connects automatically and outside your home it's searching for other signals and you're still getting amazing battery life? That's pretty cool. I might try that one of these days and see how my battery stats look after that.

That's what I'm doing now. I'm not using a location trigger anymore and that seemed to be the cause of the wi-fi being on all the time. Now I'm using time triggers and so far so good.

Have you turned off chrome sync? Also their is a crash notification that enables WiFi connection to report. You can also shut that off.

Well, this seems to be what my particular issue was that kept my WiFi on 100% of the time. Actually, it was the "Pre-load Webpages" setting but Chrome settings nonetheless. So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction loydstrans. ;)

You guys jinxed me, got up this morning, did my morning check of bat stats and lo and behold WiFi on for 20 straight minutes. Usually 2 seconds 8 or 9 times a night for a total of about 20 seconds, never long enough to show on the bat stats, til today. Poo.

If you're on a shared data plan your data usage will decrease. Chrome is a data hog left alone.
