How ya do that, buy it, play & then return it ?
That or resell it.
Ok. I know my phone isn't shipping for at least a month. Still, every time I get an email, my heart skips for just a second and I get the hope that they had a change of heart and went ahead and sent it out. I've got a problem.

Oh, I've been here man. Like I said when you came back, the forum has reignited the flame burning in my soul. I even almost started a lecture the other day when a friend who knows nothing about what he's talking about told another friend that "that's what she gets for getting those droid phones" when she was having trouble with her Galaxy S5. Them's fightin' words for more than one reason.
Ya I'm deep into the addiction phase too. For too long the Note II was just a tool, a really good tool, but just a tool.
Development had basically ceased.
I'll have to dust off what little skills I had and probably learn some new ones once we actually get our hands on the phone.
At first I was kinda bummed my delivery date was 5-7 weeks out not 3-4, but after reading an article on the challenges of rooting Marshmallow, I'm not as disappointed. I'm hoping someone at XDA will get the phone first and by the time we get ours, it will have a stable root method, SU & TWRP.
We'll file that under the heading "Things happen for a reason" ... least that's what I'm telling myself at the moment.
And I'm more amped about just having a vanilla android phone again. I know root will be there, but I haven't found anything in years that requires root that I just HAD to have. I got my start with android with the G1 and then the OG Droid, so I started off with a stock experience. While I've enjoyed some of Samsung's TouchWiz additions over the last couple of devices, I'm ready to just be pure again.
My only reason for root currently is to install viper4android, I haven't found anything that compares to it. I have it set up perfectly for me and my metal.

For me Nandroid Backups, though I guess that doesn't technically require root. Not sure if Titantium Backup still requires root or not, but I got to hace TiB. I keep older versions of apps, like YouTube, and Speedtest so I don't have to deal with the very annoying ads.
That and AdAway... did I mention I really don't like Ads! I would much rather pay for an app than put up with ads.
Oh and one more thing! I like to Theme Android!
An equalizer. Completely changes the audio experience. And you can change more settings since it has root privilege.

Personal preference, I guess. I just ignore ads. If they get in the way of enjoying an app, then I uninstall the app so the dev does't get any money from me trying to use their app.
As for backups, I don't have much that needs backed up. My photos and videos get backed up to 2 different cloud services when I'm on wifi and charging. All of my "more important" apps like Google Keep for important notes sync with the cloud as well.
If I have to do an fdr, I'd much rather start fresh than restore a backup of things that could've contributed to the problem that caused me to have to do the fdr in the first place.
To each their own. Like I've said in other threads, I'm not saying there's NO chance I'll ever root my 6P, but I'm also not in any hurry to do so any time soon.
