Here is what I would suggest you do. MAKE A POLICE REPORT! Not sure what state you are in but here it would be a misdemeanor but some states it may be a felony. Usually determined by the value. Once you do that the police can contact Verizon. Some states require law enforcement to obtain a subpoena for the information. Verizon may have info that they cant give to you but law enforcement can get it. If anyone has tried to activate the phone Verizon can obtain their info and pass it on to law enforcement. Make sure you find the box it came in. It will have the serial number to the phone. If law enforcement can locate who tried to activate it and find the phone, match the serial numbers, make the arrest, return your phone.I know this first hand. Have seen it done.
In the meantime HAVE THE PHONE TURNED OFF!!!! Change your passwords to everything. Gmail,twitter,fb, etc.
BTW, Yes I am a Police officer. I know it can be done! I have recovered stolen cell phones and ipods myself. Good Luck
