Otterbox defender case draining battery?

I bought this case and put it on about two days ago. Since then I've had to charge my phone three times. Last night in a matter of 7 hours I went from 75% to 13% battery. I haven't downloaded any new apps or changed any settings on my phone. I've looked around on the internet but can't find an answer. Can a phone case truly be killing my battery?

Possible if it's effecting the signal.

But I live and work in Washington D.C. not out in the middle of no where. I have 4g coverage all the time, very frustrating.
