Notification bar won't roll back up

Hey when I get a text I pull down the notification bar to open it up, but when I hit the message in the bar the notification bar doesn't go away. It hasn't always done this, just within the past few days. It used to roll back up or go away and bring my message to the front but now I have to close the notification bar myself and IDK why it won't go back up.

try a battery pull. that might help. maybe even just restarting it may help.
