market/gmail not working... i think i know why but need help?

After I rooted my market and gmail worked for a couple days but now both do not work. I'll try to open them and it will just open a white screen and will close without saying anything..I figured out both apps are 2.3.4 when my phone was root on 2.3.3 so I found and installed a market 2.3.3 apk but still did not work. Any ideas?

It has happened to me twice and only fix was factory reset.

Sent to today from yesterday using tomorrow's technology.

Should I back up my rom with rom manger or would it save the broken market? Or back up any other way?
