If you haven't solved your problem, try this: on the screen where your "Contacts Widget" resided - hold your finger down in a blank spot. A menu will popup with four choices on it. One of those choices will be "Widgets" - choose it. Next on the alphabetical list that will come up, choose "Favorite Contacts". This should bring back your favorite contacts which, I believe, is what you are calling your quick contacts. Let me know if I have helped.

If you are using the stock launcher, long press on the screen and select widgets and then locate quick contacts - you should then be back in business...
