#1. Download OI File Manager from the Marketplace.
#2. Download the APK of your choice to your PC.
#3. Mount your phone to your PC
#4 Transfer/drag Google Earth APK (or whatever APK you wish to transfer) from your PC to whatever file you want on your phone. I use "download", just to make it easy.
#4. Once completed, Unmount your phone.
#5. Disconnect phone from PC
#6. Open OI File Manager on your phone.
#7. Browse to the "download" file and open it.
#8. Browse the file for the Google_earth.apk (just go all the way to the bottom of the list and work your way back up) and install.

VIOLA!
Thanks man!! I followed your instructions to a T and it worked perfectly!!
now I have yet another app to consume all of my time...;)

It is a pretty cool app, but it is a little rough.
It caused my Droid to lock up completely. I had to do my first battery pull in 4 months to get it running again.

I doubt I will use this very often :)

Google Earth rocks

It works perfect on my MotoDroid, just transferred to SD card & installed. Thanks so much. Still not rooted. Heard today April for 2.1 because they want it perfect. Sounds good to me.

Mine shows up in the settings/applications menu. It even has a uninstall button. Did you install in from the SD card ?

You gotta mount.. and it could be your cable actually. If you mount it should pop up as an external Hard drive.

OK so I tried it. Big memory hog. I didn't really see the usefulness over the regular maps app so i uninstalled.

When 2.1 comes out, hopefully a push, will having Google Earth already loaded on my droid cause any issues. I'd like to get the maps, but will wait until the 2.1 push comes if this would cause some problems.

Thanks
