Email Help: Droid 1

I've had my D1 for about a year now. All of a sudden my stock email app doesn't notifiy me of new messages. When I open the app I receive a "connection error". It will send and receive mail, just will not notifiy me of new mail. I'm using Yahoo and nothing has changed on my end. My OS is 2.2.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
