Reason I ask is well, I have already opted to give one away to the developers, why not get a bounty going for the first Dev/Team to root it? I will up $100 to the success of the Droid X root project.

*EDIT*: This is just a feeler thread, not to ruffle anyones feathers, funny part would be if the phone was rooted same day. I do not develop but I do know what it takes for these guys to do this. Lots of red bull and caffeine. This is just to give it up for the devs.

Nice offer, though I will say that money is not the motivating factor in rooting these phones. Money also won't rush the process either.

So is this like the X Prize for the Droid X rooting endeavor? :)

Putting a timeline on hacking would be futile. It is not to rush but maybe a reward to the hacker or team responsible for making it a more useful device, from the community. I could only imagine the repetitive processes required to test theories and such. No this is just an idea to throw out there, wondering what you guys thought.

Weren't you apart of that rooted incredible mess?

As I am NOT a DEV, I do by many ways do support development, and stating I was a PART of a mess, which I had nothing to do with it, no I was not part of it, and I am past the lack of maturity that was presented to me and many people involved in supporting the root for Incredible. End of discussion. I hope that answered your question. Back to the topic on hand.

I'm all about rewarding devs for their hard work, but I would first want to know which devs would be involved and how much experience they have. I want to see the X rooted as bad as anyone, but taking care of the signed bootloader (if that ends up being true) would be the biggest hurtle. It may be impossible considering that the Milestone's still hasn't been cracked.

Im not going to worry about the rooting part, as im sure it will happen, all i want to happen is pete to make a wonderful rom for us.

Do you realize that the phone has to be rooted before any custom ROMs will work on it? And the phone's bootloader can't be signed if you want to install custom ROMs. Sounds like you need to do some reading!

Question..which dev is your giveaway (very kind of you to give one to a dev to get this rooted, thanks) Droid X going to?

@Titans Whoever votes for the dev starting tomorrow. If you have a dev you would like to see enter, then they may sign up. :)

Doesn't the phone have to be rooted for Pete to be able to load the rom?

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
1. Yes, along with an unlocked bootloader.
2. I don't think Pete has said that he would develop for this phone..someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Keep it on topic, this is a thread for buying the hackers some caffeine when it gets done.

I see no problem with a bounty. It encourages people to move to the next level. I would throw down...I will match B16's offer of $100.

I would be happy to put 50.00 into the Droid x root pot. I have a motor Droid right now and couldn't imagine being able to do with my phone what ever I liked. I understand the whole some people may brick there phone and want Verizon/Motorola to fix for free, but I for one know that br:heart:icking may be part of the risk. I wish I could contribute more to this endeavor but o have yet to wrap my head around coding. Thanks for all you guys hard work.
