droid x black screening

i just downloaded an app that was sorta like home switcher. now the phone is completly useless. the screens black and when i hold the home button it just says recent: no recent apps. idk how i can go in and fix this. has anyone fixed this before?or is it now just a useless paper weight?

pull the battery. reboot. if that doesn't fix it, is there any way to get into the settings. if you can, settings, apps, delete that app you downloaded.

what was the app you downloaded. are you stock or rooted? have a backup?
