Cannot send email through cableone.net

I just purchased a Droid 2 and have been trying to set up my email account through cableone on my phone. I can recieve messages, but cannot send.

Incomming Server
POP:
mail.cableone.net
Port:
110
Username
xxxxx
Password
xxxxx

Outgoining Server
SMTP:
mail.cableone.net
Port:
25
Username and Password match as above.

This is the KICKER. When my phone is connected to the moble network ONLY. I cannot send mail....BUT when I connect my phone to the wifi network in my house, the phone will send the email through the wifi!!! That tells me that my password and username are all correct but why wont the email send through the phone??!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have searched and found several posts regarding people having trouble sending mail out, but no solutions have worked for me.

They're probably blocking SMTP from outside networks to combat spam. Competent service providers will offer authenticated SMTP so you can send from outside networks but unfortunately, some are stuck in the dark ages.

Sometimes changing the outgoing port helps. One port to try is 587
