Hello, i just got my 1st smartphone & am trying to add events to my calendar. The phone says "you must synchronize a calendar before creating a new event". I don't get it...the phone obviously has a calendar...but you can't add stuff to it? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Moved to the Droid 2 general discussion section.
I have a rooted Droid so my experience may be different.

I use the stock calendar. In my settings, I tap account sync, tap my Gmail account, tap sync contacts, calendar, Photos etc. Hope this is helpful.

I have seen this problem several times so I'll tell you what worked for me.

Go into settings > accounts > google and set up a new account (don't worry you can delete it after the fix is done)

Then with the new account go to the callendar and create a random event, it should sync fine. Then go back to settings > accounts > google and get rid of the dummy account and re sync your original acct. You should now be able to add callendar events from the phone. Let me know if that didn't make sense or you need more asistance.

Yay, sorry I couldn't let it go unsaid. You won't have to deal with it again till 3333.

I thought this could be helpful as well. I was having the same problem as before also. That the "sync calendar" option would not appear. Though I tried your solution, it did not work. I brought it in to my local Verizon store. The rep there said that you need to have a calendar with at least one event on it, when syncing your gmail account, or it will not work. Factory reseted it, synced and was good to go.

Can I do the same if I want to sync it with my yahoo calendar? I use yahoo as my main e-mail account and e-mail as my "junk" mail account. Help!

TIA

Me too. Now, any advice for setting speed dials in the phone?

Thanks.

Open up your dialer and hit the menu button and there should be an option for speed dial setup.

You can add a direct dial icon on your screen by long press, tap short cut, tap direct dial, select contact.
