I think you really should give those steps a try. it will save you time and possibly money, just my opinion, and you can learn a lot of valuable information. these things can be finicky and i have learned quite a few tricks. I can tell you after having the og droid, wife's droid X, and now my bionic this is a lot of fun and it gets a whole lot more fun without the pucker factor when you try stuff that may not work but you know how to fix it. good luck and don't hesitate to ask if you decide to go that route. take it easy.
