Is it possible to simply use voodoo rootkeeper to hide and reenable root with this update?

I'm gathering that root needs to be disabled when this is installed. I'm a bit unclear about whether it might be difficult to get it back.

For anyone who is interested I just downloaded and installed the Voodoo Root keeper from the play store and used it to protect and temporarily unrooted. Then I booted into recovery and installed the update from the SD card, let it do its thing and rebooted after it was done.

Opened voodoo and restored root successfully. So now I am on. 214 rooted and happy.

Are you sure you defrosted everything and you didn't delete any system Apps?

And you are booted into the stock recovery right? Did you have safestrap or bootstrap installed?

I am not going to respond to that other thread since having the same problem going in two places is unproductive. Just so I am clear you are currently on .211 ICS correct? Also just uninstalling bootstrapper is not going to help you, you are going to need to use fastboot files to get your system back in working order or the upgrade will not work for you.

Yes 211 ICS.... Ok so I should flash 211 and then flash 214, right? Should I unroot first like I have been, or does it not matter?

I would try that. Use the 1.7 utility option 2 to unstick an ICS install.

Make sure you have the update zip for .211 on your external SD card, it is the zip file that is actually labeled for .181.

Then once in Ap Fastboot mode hit option 2 and let it do it's thing. Once it is done reboot and go into recovery, it will be loading some files (let it do this). Then it will probably reboot itself and hang on the M logo, that is normal. Do a hard reset by holding down the volume down and power button and when the phone turns off hold both volume buttons to get back to recovery. Then do the update zip from the SD card, doing a factory data reset will probably be best before you do that too.
