I actually have a Droid X2 and considered the Maxx, but ultimately did not upgrade. I did side-by-side tests of web page loading with my phone and the Maxx (and other 4G phones) in the Verizon store and they all loaded at the same time. In fact, a couple loaded more quickly on the X2. Not sure what you use your phone for, but for data I usually just surf and e-mail. I don't download much and I don't watch much on YouTube, and I rarely use radio services like Pandora.
Also, the screen is the same size, and the Maxx might look a touch better because it's Amoled, but it's still an inferior screen to phones that are already sitting next to it on the shelf at the Verizon store.
The Maxx has that battery, and imo that's all it has going for it. 4G is unimpressive imo. The Maxx also doesn't have a removable battery, which some people don't like. And, of course, the X2 is going to be much cheaper.
If you're not a "latest and (not so) greatest" person, just get the X2.
