With deep regret....

My neighbor got an x few days ago.. dam it is huge compared to my Jr. Droid one..... took some getting use to,, but of course I want one...

I'm wondering if a new battery would solve my problems. (the phone is 11 months old today!)

Spanky, how can your X be 11 months old when it was only released three months ago?

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking?

I easily get 24 hrs of battery life. I leave for work at 6:30am, when I got home at 5:30pm yesterday I was at 90%. I use Quick Settings to control mobile data & screen brightness (also can control wifi, gps, auto sync, but so can a widget), b/c I don't get great 3G at work. WiFi on all the time at home. GPS only on when I need it. I am rooted, but only for wireless tether.

Clarification:
My original droid is 11 months old. It's battery is dying quickly throughout the day. I was just saying that I'd have to hang on to it for awhile since the X is most likely going back.

The X operates fine, it's just not for me. Don't get me wrong, the screen is great. The physical size of the phone is what I can't handle. As a result, I need a smaller phone. I may be looking into the Droid 2 or Incredible.

There's always going to be the "next best thing" right around the corner. Personally I can see myself being satisfied with the X for the next 12 months. I'll do an early upgrade if something catches my eye after a year. Verizon is always sending me notices about early upgrade eligibility.

I can't see waiting for LTE though. I don't live in a major market and even if they roll out aggressively, it would be late next year at best that I'd see it. I needed to get rid of the Storm and the X is a great fit.

There is always a whiz-bang phone on the horizon that's better, cheaper, faster, and uses less power with more battery life. But there's also the possibility of delays and problems with all new phones until the bugs are worked out.
After my remaining 22 months are done with my X, I'll get a new phone that will blow away anything you get in the next six months. And six months from then, you'll get one that will be even better than my new one.
That's just the nature of today's technology.

I actually just rooted the droid, but haven't done much with it. I never leave the GPS or WiFi on, and the screen brightness is always at about 35%. Plus, I never use a task killer.

Sometimes you have to budget money really tight. It might mean ramen noodles for dinner at times or having to keep an older clunky slider phone rather than kicking out the cash for a newer better model. If you are of limited means it's probably smart to keep the older phone and let the X go.
