Wireless Moot

If I'm expecting something critical I either manually check e-mail or turn the action off. Surprisingly it doesn't bother my Google Talk notifications so I'm assuming they're coming over on 3g data?

Well if it turns off wifi and data you shouldn't receive anything. It doesn't matter if it's a 4G or 3G connection, a data connection is a data connection.

And yeah... that doesn't sound too hot to me. I like to be able to glance at my phone to see if I have new email and to be able to hop on the web as soon as I unlock it instead of waiting for it to make some type of connection. Hm.

if you've read everything and then run into a problem, you won't have a problem with my level of support. Even when I'm yelling at people for not reading and wasting my time, I still help them. We've yet to lose a phone. For what you need to do, it's pretty damn simple. Install 7.7, FXZ, RSD 5.7, 247 update installer....in that order. Make sure the latest Moto driver is installed and that the phone can be seen by windows in both Charge Only and AP Fastboot modes (for the second you reboot it manually into AP Fastboot by shutting it off, hold volume down and hit power....do so while it's connected to USB). Once the driver situation is dealt with, reboot the phone. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled, you are *NOT* on a USB 3 port, and the phone is in Charge Only mode. Run the HoB, select 247, then INSTALL, then follow and DO all of the prompts. Done.

one other quick questions as to what I can expect when I do this. I understand that there is not supposed to be any data loss, but Ill back up everything just in case. I wont need to reactivate the phone or anything right? sorry if this is a dumb question....

Yes indeed. Without sudo. It had to work since I'm basing a lot of my stuff off a script that's used by the RAZR linux community. So I did my homework and found that those libraries need to be installed for it to work properly. Once I did that, I can execute adb without sudo.

Great and yes it makes sense now, that library allows 32 bit apps to run on a 64 bit system.
Woowhoo progress! Gotta love it!

I don't think I ever actually "properly" installed ADB on my computer. I just literally found the bare files needed to run the tool, and extracted them into my "247" folder. It appears you have ADB in the HoB linux package as well, within the "files" folder, but your adb is different from mine for some reason. I also have "aapt", "aidl", "dexdump", and "dx" files. Those probably allow it (or the moto-fastboot) to work or something..

Could be. This is all new to me so I'm playing catchup quickly. I included the files that the RAZR linux util uses since they have it working.

It's just an upgrade so no, you're good. I tell people to back up everything just in case. If something goes wrong and you have to factory reset (not normal...just saying worst case) I don't want you to lose things. Chance favors the prepared mind. I like to plan ahead.

It watches over me while I sleep.... Wait, um, crap. Why did it just change its name to "skynet"?! WTF is that all about?!!

So did 247 update fix the weird sound volume bug?

If you mean the one where you have to change the ringer volume to get media sounds to come through, then no I don't think so. That happened to me again yesterday

Murphy's Laws apply even to electronics, there will always be the one who can't seem to get things right even if it is laid out before him with what is to believed to be an easy task that was designed to be fool-proof.

At my work, the one who is in charge of training new hires is the one who can't get stuff right, and he has yet to know what F7 means in MSOffice, he misspells almost every word he types.

You can't fool me...there's only one f key, lol
