OK, thanks samuari. Ill get everything downloaded today and do some more reading. Im 98% sure that tonights the night. Im ready to finally have the phone that was advertised when I bought my bionic.

well, I just sick and tired of waiting and am abou tready to take matters into my own hands. Ive been dealing with the data connection issue since I got this phone. Im out of town right now and downloading the Hob on hotel wifi, so its going to take a while. I think I have everything with me I need (phone, factory cable, and my laptop). Im just worried that Ill screw up my phone or Samuri will yell at me when I need help:) Once I get it all downloaded, Ill read eveything again, then Ill read it again. Im almost convinced that tonights the night.

I updated to .247 last night and this morning I was thinking I must have completely screwed up my phone 'cause data and wifi connections were WEIRD. And then I realized my battery savings setting had it set to turn WiFi off when the phone was locked. WTF? Yeah, fixed that.

But it got me wondering - what, if any, battery saving settings (and apps) do people around here use?

My # 1 battery saver: Stop using KiK so much. :happy3:

Yes, which is why I'm trying it. When you say it "worked" did you test it on the phone?
Yuppers! the only way I got root was with the script. Like I said I had a wierd pause that I "ctrl C" to get past (not sure why) and rooting just went on it's merry way.
I did comment out the flash functions as I was just wanting to test the root options. I did not change anything else in the script though. so not sure where it's hanging up for you.

sudo is not required for adb. This is what I found to fix the issue...Testing it now.

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

I had the same thing happen to me using Smart Actions. I started using smart actions when I went to 246, biggest change was having it turn off WiFi and data when the screen is off. That setting alone has let me go back to the stock battery instead of my extended battery, and still have 50% remaining at 10:00 pm.

Doesn't it bother you though that you're not receiving any data when the screen is off? No emails, no Google Talk, no notifications, etc. I'm all for improved battery life but that is a dealbreaker for me.

without sudo?

Yes indeed. Without sudo. It had to work since I'm basing a lot of my stuff off a script that's used by the RAZR linux community. So I did my homework and found that those libraries need to be installed for it to work properly. Once I did that, I can execute adb without sudo.

Hi Everyone, just did the update to 247 from 246 and it went so much faster. I did not have to do the long media scan. First time I went from 905 to 246 and it took over 30 mins just for the media scan. Plus, the first time thru the optimizing apps for android was very slow and this time it speed through them. Plus, this time I going to try no FDR and see if okay since such a small change. Last time after 246 update from 905 i did do it and reinstalled all my apps.

Thanks SamuriHL and everyone that helped to build HOB.

If I'm expecting something critical I either manually check e-mail or turn the action off. Surprisingly it doesn't bother my Google Talk notifications so I'm assuming they're coming over on 3g data?

I don't think I ever actually "properly" installed ADB on my computer. I just literally found the bare files needed to run the tool, and extracted them into my "247" folder. It appears you have ADB in the HoB linux package as well, within the "files" folder, but your adb is different from mine for some reason. I also have "aapt", "aidl", "dexdump", and "dx" files. Those probably allow it (or the moto-fastboot) to work or something..
