You can still sbf. No need to return it.
Bootloader Err:A5,70,70,00,1F
And then the usual stuff like
Battery ok, usb, etc
Dont jump the gun and return if you dont have to. Id try a reliable sbf to the bootloader. And to be honest the VZ guy will just steer you to a new phone, warrenty is blown if you are rooting and such.

How will he know i'm rooted?
Haha, well its kinda obvious. What else makes it so the bootloader will work but nothing else will? While im not sure they are all smarties, the phone usually dont just act like that. Im not even sure that symptom has any other cause.Dont jump the gun and return if you dont have to. Id try a reliable sbf to the bootloader. Why would it matter to VZW if it's rooted or not? You aren't covered under warranty with the phone you purchased on eBay anyway since you weren't the original owner.A different question that is somewhat related to this thread....
I bought a d1 on ebay, haven't received it yet but the esn is clean. However, the phone is already rooted. Will that be a problem when I take it in to activate it or not? Should I flash it back to factory settings first? Honestly, I'd like to start from scratch with it and personalize it for myself after I'm ready to undertake a rooting procedure(trying to learn adb and all).
