Warranty end upcoming

So, my one year warranty's end is fast approaching, and other than rooting and installing the 229 leak, I've not really done any hacking on my phone. I was thinking of getting bolder and trying one of the full roms after my warranty expires, but I'm not sure which way to go and what works well on the Bionic. What recommendations would you give a noob like me just getting started on this?
