Here's something that isn't really news, but is still entertaining/intriguing. It's a compilation pic of the evolution of Android all the way from Cupcake to Jelly Bean. It's amazing to see how much the OS changed over the years, from the icons to the clock. Even the calculator is quite a bit different than it used to be. How many of you guys have fond memories of some of these "ancient" versions of Android?

This doesn't seem quite accurate to me. Donut had the half-circle unlock / mute swiping. Also the clock moved to the middle in 2.2 or 2.3. Before that it was to the side if memory serves. It's still neat to see someone trying to catalog it and show that product evolution.

Thanks, this is awesome. Also amazingly helpful for when I discuss the Android OS with hard-headed Applites, who struggle to understand the appeal of Android and make all kinds of red-herring comments, like: "Who would name their OS after a dessert?" and "Wow, look at all that OS fragmentation."

Side note: I *do* wish we could go back to the 3D look for the dialer. Never been a huge fan of the flat, modern-minimalist look, at least not for UI buttons.

If I recall correctly, My Original-Gen Droid had the semi-circle unlock (which I loved, BTW; much easier for a thumb than the straight-swipe) but an update that was not Eclair changed it to the straight-swipe.
