Viper Debuts SmartStart 3.0 at CES: the Cloud-connected Car

Vista, California (1/7/2012)- (Virtual Press Office) – Viper is pleased to announce the introduction of Viper SmartStart 3.0 – the Cloud-connected car at CES2012 – available soon on iTunes and the Android Market.

Viper SmartStart 3.0, available in Q1 2012, will offer the most advanced and user-friendly new features since SmartStart was introduced, including SmartSchedule, vehicle status, vehicle diagnostics, auxiliary channels and more.

Viper created the smartphone car control category and is leading the keyless lifestyle revolution with Viper SmartStart, which has been downloaded to more than one million iPhone, Android and BlackBerry handsets. Viper SmartStart is the first app that allows users to affordably start, lock, unlock, locate and monitor their vehicle – all using their smartphone. The product has garnered worldwide media coverage including an iPhone TV commercial, and won the Best of Innovations Award at the Consumer Electronics Show.

“Viper SmartStart 3.0 is going to change the way people start their day,” says Mike Simmons, President of Directed. “The new features offer drivers unprecedented connectivity with their vehicles, and introduce the promise of the Cloud-connected car, providing a robust, real-time 2-way link between cars and smartphones.”

One of the signature new features of SmartStart 3.0 is SmartSchedule. Part weatherman and part mind reader, SmartSchedule users tell SmartStart their daily routine and the Directed Cloud Services (DCS) network does the rest. DCS will continuously monitor temperature, location and schedule variables in the Cloud and push Smart Alerts to their phone when it’s time to warm up their car.

Another new cloud-connected feature of SmartStart 3.0 is the ability to receive Vehicle Diagnostics: available soon on selected vehicle installations, customers will be able to access rich information about the health of their vehicle right from SmartStart.

With the release of version 3.0, Viper SmartStart now supports other new features like Auxiliary Channels and enhanced System Status. Users will soon have all the multi-zone control and customization options found on other Directed premium 2-way remotes, and will receive status updates with richer feedback, confirming the vehicle is running, armed, locked and more.
