Updating Your European Galaxy S5 To Android 5.0 Lollipop Is Just An Odin Flash Away!

Samsung is starting to their official roll out of Android 5.0 Lollipop to some European devices. Folks in Spain and Poland are already receiving the update. This leaves the rest of you in Europe waiting. No one likes to wait. If you would like to go ahead and grab the update you can do so unofficially. This will work with SM-G900F handsets. The method will only work with Windows since Odin is windows compatible only so if you are using a Mac or Linux machine you are unfortunately out of luck. You will need to have Odin 3.09 installed on your PC. You also need to have the Samsung drivers installed. Normally you can just enable USB debugging and plug your phone into your PC. Windows will normally auto install the proper drivers. If for some reason this does not happen grab the drivers here.

Once you have your setup ready to go grab the G900FXXU1BNL9 firmware version for the European SM-G900F Galaxy S5. Unzip the file to any folder. Before beginning the install you will want to backup your stored data since this update will erase it.

Enable USB debugging on your S5 by heading to Settings>About Device>click build number 7 times to unlock the developer options. Go to Settings>Developer Options and enable USB debugging. Boot your S5 into Download Mode by pressing and holding Home+Power+Volume down. Press Volume Up to enter download mode once the Warning screen appears. Lauch Odin. Be sure that Odin recognizes your device (if Odin sees your device it will show up in the ID Com box as 0:[COM12] and the box will turn blue with the text. Check auto reboot, and F. Reset Time.
