I don't think that would make any difference. Maybe you could try going into UD Setting -> Quick settings and try using fix permissions.

Quick question: I installed UD8 then updated the kernel with Chevy 1.1, but I'm noticing the battery life is not that great. I would like to go back to the stock UD8. I did a nandroid backup but I have since updated some things and wanted to know if there was an easier way to just update the kernel with the stock UD8 by just downloading and installing an update.zip? If so where could I find that?

Or, if I do a nandroid backup (data only) then reinstall UD8 stock, restore the data only backup will that essentially get me back to where I'm at with no data loss, configurations, etc?

i have been running this for a full day now, and i have to say, this is the best one out there for me. i have run pretty much everything (BB v.04, CM6,sapphire1.1.1 and others) and this is the most stable, quickest, and most customizable ROM available. I love it. running chevys 1.25 kernal and it screams. black n bold took care of my 3 complaints (all visual, the connection symbol, keyboard, and phone dialer)

i have a feeling this will be staying on my phone for a while. will be donating in a couple days once i make sure everything stays this way. usually roms are good for the first couple days then things go wrong....i am really hoping they stay the same for this one....absolutely LOVE it. thanks for the great work!!

Kernels are not ROM specific, they work across the board, as long as the Android Version matches up ie: 2.2 kernel for a 2.2 O/S

Mail LED Notification

I have noticed that when I receive an email my LED stays on for 9 seconds before flashing. I have checked in SETTINGS > ULTIMATE DROID > USER INTERFACE and the LED is set for 2 second blink rate which appears to be the fastest . Is there another area for settings that I'm overlooking? I'm used to the flashing/pulsing LED. I'm worried this current way might be eating up some battery keeping the LED lit for 9 seconds before flashing.

I don't think my LED flashes at all, it just stays on, even after tweaking the UD Settings, it would be nice to get the blink rate back, but really it's not a big deal

That's odd, I'm having the best performance in that aspect.

Which launcher are you using? Try ADW. I was using LauncherPro on BB before, and it would redraw almost every time. ADW doesn't do any of this, or does it so infrequently I don't notice.

do you happen to experience no icons when you come back out of sleep mode? When I press the power button to wake the phone and enter my password my phone sometimes has no icons on the homescreen and I have to wait 5-10 seconds before anything shows. This has happen on many different Roms not specific to UD. (I have a droid).

pretty common with froyo. i thought frg22d fixed it but it still comes up once in a while. try turning off your animations and see if that fixes it. i used to have that problem and it seemed to go away when i turned off animations.

also if you are on LP, go into advanced, memory, memory presets and set it to low. i have this setup and the only time i get redraws are when i take the phone out of the dock.

i also had the app problem, i was using the 3d launcher and was getting some hesitation when scrolling and a couple redraws. i switched to the 2d launcher and have no problems. the phone is running top notch still after a day and a half. lets hope it keeps up.
