Tired of complaining about the Pre-Loaded Apps? See how to take action today!!

i just did my part i got Niel P it seems like she has gotten this concern a couple of times lol

Niel P: Hi, my name is Niel P. How may I help you?
droid omega: hi i have a question about why the preloaded apps on the android phones
droid omega: are not deleteable
Niel P: The pre-loaded application on the phone is built in on the phone itself and there is no option to delete those pre installed app.
droid omega: i know why is it designed like that i have some friends who have the droid x/2 and they have the need for speed shift game and other apps that are on trial that are expired and now the apps are just taking up space why do we not have the choice to delete an app on the phone that we bought when the iphone has no apps that are like that
Niel P: I'm so sorry for the inconvenience but there is no option for that. With regards to the NSF shift application, it is only a demo game that you may need to purchase the whole application on the Android Market.
droid omega: yeah but it is just taking up space because they dont want to buy the app
droid omega: will there be applications on the Droid Bionic that are preloaded that will not be deletable?
Niel P: All pre-loaded applications cannot be deleted.
droid omega: how is the Bionic going to be able to compete against the vzw iphone if it is slowed down by all of those apps
Niel P: The Android Bionic has it's own features and specifications that can compete with an iPhone.
droid omega: Motorola should give the user the ability to delete these apps after they buy the phone. a lot of people have had to root there phones because they dont want the preloaded apps
droid omega: the apps can emanate memory space and slow the phone down
Niel P: I apologize for that but that's how the phone was designed.
droid omega: but it cant be to hard to make it so that it can be deleted after the phone is bought
droid omega: will this concern be brought to higher attention?
Niel P: We are always gathering input from owners from calls, e-mails, the Web and other sources. We do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and want to assure you that Motorola does value your feedback We open a record for all consumer contacts which are then routed to the proper department for any further research.
droid omega: ok thank you
droid omega: have you heard of this problem a lot lately?
Niel P: There are some consumers that want to delete some pre-loaded apps on the phone.
droid omega: ok thank you that will be all i just wanted to let motorola know that they have a lot of angered customers because they cant delete the preloaded apps when they are no use to them
droid omega: oh and can i have a copy of this chat emailed to me?
Niel P: Our chat session will be sent to you after this session ends.
Niel P: Would there be anything else?
droid omega: no thank you
Niel P: I hope you found our chat to be Excellent. I would request that after you click 'Hang Up', please remember to click on the 'Close' button within the chat window and take a moment to fill out a short survey to tell us how we did. It should only take about 1 minute to complete. Your responses will help us get better at serving your needs.
Niel P: If you need any more information get in touch. Thanks from Motorola, bye!

Well I went deeper with my questions: :D .

Ronald D: Hi, my name is Ronald D. How may I help you?
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: how are you doing today
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I am good, thank you for asking, how about you?
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I am sure you have heard this concern before but why do you tell us that the pre-loaded apps are built into the device
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: they are actually loaded in the system folder and all you guys would have to do is send an update to move the preloaded apps out of the system folder
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: another question do you guys actually use the devices
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, assuredly, i will do my best to help you.

chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: like do you own droids
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Are you trying to delete the pre loaded applications on the phone?
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: yes but I am not just here about that
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: Because if you notice there are a lot of complaints about the droid 2 and droid x lagging
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: do you know why they lag?
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I am sorry to know that.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: they lag because if you ever get a chance to look at what is preloaded on the system folder there are countless of system apps from blur and games that we do not need
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Basically, some of the applications that are built in are made for Verizon, and there is no way we can delete them.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: we used the sdk tools from motorola and tested cleaning out the system
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: we actually eliminated the lagging and the device was smooth
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I am trying to offer solution and not just complain
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: since I know this will get reviewed I would like to explain how we achieved that
chat_agent.png

chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: First we started with blur: Blur is good but you guys are loading it down too much. We do not need every blur app, widget, and service running at the same time. How about just have the stuff NEEDED for blur in the system folder ie email, music, and what you need for the phone to function. Every thing else needs to go. And give the customer the option to choose to delete the apps when needed
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: if you continue on this path you are on you will lose customers
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I am a fan of the droids... and we are getting clowned by iphone users because they know that blur is a joke
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: Blur is good it is just poorly constructed
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Thank you as well for bringing this matter to us, our conversation is being recorded and after this our higher will review this conversation, and expect for the changes for the phones especially for the concerns of the customers.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: Please fix it with the current devices and future deviced
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: devices
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: so please ask them to send updates cleaning out system folders of apps that are not needed including blur apps that are not needed
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: We will be escalating this conversation, thank you.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: then just offer those apps to be installed via the android market
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Okay.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Is there anything else?
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: this will improve the device and make us all happy
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: it sounds like you are either done listening to what I am trying to say
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I am a concerned customer
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I am listening and i am reading all your concern, PC.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: and I know you have been getting complaints about this
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I know I am not the first and I am just trying to offer a solution
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: because eventually the customers are going to stop complaining and they are just going to buy another device
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: android is on multiple devices and you are not the only manufacturers with it

Ronald D: Yes.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I do understand that, PC, and i know your frustrations.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: the DROID line can either continue to be great or it will be like palm
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: Thanks and any way I can get a hold of your engineers
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: software engineers
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: You're welcome.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Is there anything else?
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: software engineere?
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Excuse me?
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I am looking for a way to email or contact the people in your department who handles putting the software and testing the software
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: One moment, please.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: By the way you never answered my question, do you personally own a motorola android device?
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: This is the only number we have for our Global Department.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS

Motorola Mobility, Inc.
600 North U.S. Highway 45
Libertyville, Illinois 60048 USA
Telephone: +1 847 523 5000
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Yes.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: which one
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: which device may I ask
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: That is the only number we have.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I am sorry, but we do not have any numbers directly with our Software Engineers.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I am using Droid x.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: so you are familiar with the lag. Well if you go into settings and look in applications and running services. Look at all your device is trying to process...there is your lag
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Yes, but i also use the Task Killer application.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: automatic task killers do not work because all it does is bottle neck the problem cuz blur automatically restarts a program when one gets cancelled
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: I am sorry to know that.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: yes get an manual task killer and kill a task and you will see another start in its place
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: actually because auto task killers keep doing it it sometimes causes your device to freeze
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: this is why we are telling you that the BEST way to actually fix the problem is to cut down on the number of stuff being processed
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: its like a computer if a bunch of apps are running at the same time it slows it down
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: and that is what is happening with our phones
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: and that is why people are asking to remove the bloat.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Okay, i do suggest to call our Global Headquarters for us to better assist you.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: i am currently testing with sdk the device with out blur and with out pre loaded apps
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I have no lag and everything runs faster.
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: so this is experience talking to you not some one who do not know where their battery is located
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: Thanks for your time
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: You're welcome.
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Is there anything else?
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: I hope they resolve this
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: no
chat_enduser_message.png
pc747: i am done
chat_agent.png
Ronald D: Okay.
chat_alert.png
Ronald D has disconnected.

Again good job pounding motorola and i think they are getting tired of preloaded apps. But motorola are not the only ones to blame here being that htc and samsung comes with preloaded apps. I just got off the phone with a verizon tech rep assigned to the android department, she discussed being tired of having them on her device as well and will suggest it in a meeting but she said that verizon do not have enough people complaining about preloaded apps which may get it swept under the rug. I told her all week people been pounding motorola, which she agree that that is good cuz moto will tell vzw when it comes time for another device, but it may be a good idea to cover both ends my bringing some of that heat to vzw.

Well bring the heat:

https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/contact/email.jsp

copy of my email to vzw:

As a customer we are displeased with the fact you are pre-loading our android devices with apps we can not delete. We understand that this is a business and you are trying to make money but we have an issue with having trial apps like blockbuster, need for speed, city id, and other apps installed in our system folder where we can not delete them. Those apps are taking up space and if we do not want to use them or the trail has expired they are now taking up space. Please either stop the practice of preloading our device with useless trial apps or allow us to be able to remove them. The practice of preloading our device is taking up our system space. We as customers pay high dollar for our device and service plans, being verizon has the highest rate plans compared to their competitors I do not think we are asking to much to be allowed to delete preloaded apps off of our device. We know the manufacturer put the software on the phones but you guys actually tell them what software and apps you want installed.

Thank You,

From a concerned customer.

By the way other vzw android users from our sister site, who are as fed up with bloatware, are now taking part in this.

Just got off the phone with motorola I got a entry level tech support and then I asked to be passed on up to a level 2 / Supervisor worked out well I got through pretty quick.

I stated to him that I am unsatisfied with the preloaded apps that come on my phone that are not removable. I said why am i forced to have these apps from comapines that are going to go bankrupt soon enough (blockbuster) why am I going to be stuck with apps like CITY ID that is always asking me to buy it.

He said sorry and that they come that way.

I proceeded that while I can understand that motorola wants to make some money off of preinstalling these apps that is it not fair for them to not pass the buck on down to me the consumer.

He again said sorry.

I felt like I was getting no where so I said well with the verizon Iphone 4 coming out without these preinstalled mandetory apps what is keeping me as a coustmer here at motorola? I mean if you guys are going to force these on the phone why not lower the price to compensate?

He again said sorry... but this time he said he understood my frustration and that he would pass it up to a higher person and that he has been getting a good amount of calls on this subject and that I am not the only one who finds this frustrating.

After that I said I love the Droid X I have now but I don't like feeling obligated to have to ROOT my phone just to get it the way I want and if you guys are going to continue to put these mandatory apps on the phone they should at least pass the buck and make it a lower price point to make up for the difference.

PC, you should update the OP andput up all the contact info to Vz and Moto. Some peeps wont read this all the way though. :)
This is cool, im glad to see a number of people care about this as well. With removable preloaded software then why root? No need to OC the device.... I hope this makes it so Moto will remove these apps from the system folder. Keep it up guys. I will probably email VZ too, from a couple of my many email addresses.

Haha look here: http://www.youtube.com/comment_servlet?all_comments=1&v=D4gpOQDcn7c"]http://www.youtube.com/comment_servlet?all_comments=1&v=D4gpOQDcn7c"We like your devices. We ask that you clean up motoblur alot and allow us to remove preinstalled apps. That is not too much to ask. Look here at the amount of views people are tired of lag and loaded down system. eventually we will stop complaining and take our money elsewhere." pilotcharles747
I ave him a thumbs up. Post in the youtube link to guys!!!

i posted this: "Pilotcharles you are so right. And im not even going to remark on Blur, Just move the preinstalled(Bloatware) apps out of the system folder. They can sit with the regular apps thus youd still get money. My biigest complaint is non uninstallable preinstalled apps. At least with a PC you can remove the bloatware, Motorola requires you to have the bloat. iPhone 4 wont, Just saying. Lets do the quick copy and paste and remove those apps from the system folder. This would also help with rooting cuz people wont want to if the device comes clean. Blur would run so much better." but afterwords it said the comment was waiting to be approved. not sure if it got on their.
