I am waiting for everything.... it is driving me crazy... i have very few apps downloaded and am really running a very stock droid 1...
any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated... thanks...

Back up your apps and data and flash a new rom. I am running CM 7 on my D1 and it flies.

It could be the fault of one of your apps chewing up resources. In that case still flash a new rom but only restore the apps you absolutely need. Then restore apps one by one as you need them. You'll figure out which one is to blame.

Assuming you are not rooted (as you did not say so in your original post);

Switch to a different launcher app. If you are using the stock launcher, switch to Launcher Pro or ADW EX. If already using one of those two, switch to the other one.

Reboot your phone once per day. It clears all your caches and will help.

If you have a task killer or an anti-virus app, get rid of them. They have been tied to this issue over and over in the past.

Go into settings and Battery Info. Take a look at what apps are using your battery power and see if anything looks odd there.

If you have any apps installed on the sdcard, move them back to the phone.

If you have many widgets installed, consider removing them for a while and see if lagging gets better.

Look hard that the re-sync frequency you have set for various widgets/apps.

If lagging is still an issue, do a Hard Factory Reset and re-install your apps one at a time and see how they work before installing the next one.

I just did, and the app caches were not cleared.
I found an app called aCCleaner that deletes app cache files.

YOU NEED TO DO A FACTORY RESET!

I was in the same place. It sucked. I did a reset (backed up with Astro file manager first), then all was well.

If you have Launcher Pro or ADW EX, they both, I think, have a backup feature. Then go into Settings/Privacy and make sure the backup/restore options are checked.

I've always had almost all of my apps re-installed automatically.

Good luck.

If I were you, i'd give GO launcher a try. ADW and Launcherpro both lag TERRIBLY for me, but I lost all of that by switching to GO launcher. It has all the same features if not more, minus the unbearable lag and redraw that ADW and launcherpro can't seem to figure out how to fix.

Play a jam!
