Texting issues

My friends are telling me that periodically when I send them a text message it comes through on there end and they cannot read it. They said the message is just a series of symbols. Example ?!¿;?!¡$.
I called verizon and they had me reset my phone but, it is still happening. It does not happen with every text message. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Mine does that ocassionally also. I'm not sure if it is the SMS program that I'm using (Chomp SMS) or the phone. I'm not sure when it happens so it's kind of difficult to troubleshoot.
