Incoming texts dissappear after 1 second

This just started happening to me today on my Droid X running 2.1. For some reason when I receive a text message it will

1. Show the preview of the message in the notification window.
2. Show the incoming text message in the text session window.
3. After 1 second the incoming text bubble will dissappear and only show the outgoing text bubble.
4. I downloaded Handcent and have the same problem as Droid text messaging app.
5. I restarted my phone and also used advanced task killer to reset text messaging but prob still occurs.
6. Outgoing messages show fine when sent to wife's LG envy phone.

Anyone else experiencing this? Verizon problem happening today?

I have been having that same issue lately as well.

Mine I use a custom ringtone that plays part of a song and it will play about a second of it, and then the notification will disappear, or sometimes the ringtone/notification won't even go off and i'll find out i received a text message 2 hours ago.

Do you also notice your screen go fuzzy and then goes to your text messages?
