Software/Firmware update

I was waiting for more feed back I haven't flashed the .9 firmware. So after the flash, re root and get to romming?

sent from a sweet paper weight.

So .9 roms work on .6 firmware? Or SHOULD work. Should work is why I'm interested in updating the firmware.

if you flash .9, you'll be back at S-ON, no root. If you re-root the same way it will just take you back to what you had when you first rooted.

Installing a .9 rom should take you to .9 regardless.

Either way, make a backup before you do anything

Good deal. That was my next q would the rom bring you up to date. And since rooting downgraded then re ups to 605.6 I wasn't sure how to get there but didn't want to flash a Rom and bootloop. I've already created a backup this is a must.

I used the manual root method? would this work with root? what does it mean that some romes only use 605.9 as a base?

basicaly if i can use this as root i sould use this instead of the custom ruu we flash for the second time?

It's not like the X where you have to run a .340 rom if you are on .340

Since your bootloader is unlocked you don't have to worry about that stuff your devs can just upgrade you

So when you flash a rom based off of .9 it's not .9 firmware running over top of .6 the dev is actually taking you to .9

this^

got busy at work and wasn't able to explain, but that's the answer. You'll be at whatever version the rom is

So when you do the rooting can you flash the second p05img as the. 9 and still get root since the bootloader is unlocked?

No, you need the custom (399mb) file to stay S-OFF, using this will put you back on S-ON, and basically where you started.

OK so someone has to create a rom that is s-off for the .9

So in order to keep root and upgrade to the .9 firmware, just flash an actual .9 rom? The file posted on the first page is the actual .9 firmware and if that's flashed, then root will be lost. Am I getting this right?

I've got another q regarding the HTC recovery (power and volume down) when I do this I don't get to choose it goes right to loading the PG05IMG.zip file, is this normal and what exactly does that file contain?
