Nope worked perfectly using terminal emulator

I didn't use adb...have never used it not on my original droid either
I've rooted my x using terminal emulator
Now changed my carrier name using terminal emulator
Yay!

when i tried to edit the file to make it say something different then verizon wireless after i would use terminal to install it back my phone would get no service and show no signal bars.......anyone know what i might be doing wrong?
