was looking for a new look and thought i'd try Dark Edge out again. I tried it back when it first came out and had some issues. The FRG22D release seems to be alot better.
Howdy, although if your are running another home replacement app, many come with that ability included.
Adw.launcher (see my sig) or launcherpro are two that come to mind that come with the ability to use custom icons.
I don't use ADW but I do use LauncherPro Plus and you can change the icons on the dock, but not the other shortcuts.... at least I've never seen it done.

i'm using it on top of the droid concepts source that i compiled last night... seems to be good so far. I haven't had time to do anything with my other screens as i have been pretty busy.
the only issue i'm having is when i installed DE i lost my power button reboot options. This is because DE replaced my original framework... im working on fixing it now.

That's cool. I was just saying for those that don't want the extra hassle of a different ROM or compiling their own, DarkEdge Themes are available on the Android Market for ADW.Launcher (with different colors, I'm a fan of red, personally)
You can take them using your USB cable once you install the Android SDK and what not. If you don't know what that is or need help just let me know. You don't need to be rooted for this. The only app I know of letting you do this without being rooted is a home replacement app. I don't remember the name
I in no way want to come off as a smart arse but I was wondering when people claim to be minimalists, why they don't use LP to turn off the app labels? It just looks so much cleaner in my opinion. Just wondering
