How do I take screenshots of my Droid? I'm not rooted and am not looking to root. Is it a root only thing?

What is the widget on the right screen that says how much data is used?

Also, is there a good tutorial somewhere for the different home replacements (preferably Home++) where I can find all the little tricks and how to change icons and such. I want to customize but...uh...well...I can't figure it out (bad, Droidgirl, I know)
