Screen Malfunction: Portion Of Screen Not Working

Hi Guys,

I'm an engineer running the Uncommon Sense v1.1 ROM.

There is a small malfunction in my screen and I noticed it on a different rom when trying to tap something at the top of my screen. It's almost as if there is a portion of my screen that is unresponsive totally.

If you look at the picture below I used kidspaint to display the problem. What your looking at is multiple times of running my finger back and forth in the middle of the generated "box". Is this a hardware or software issue and what can I do to fix this?

I got the same problem on the original droid. From the search button on the screen to the end of the screen (top edge on landscape -from the search button to the opposite side)

Even the search button doesn't work. But the the other UI buttons work.

Unrooted using standard charger and no screen protector.

Same problem with the previous poster, in landscape mode I can't pull down the notification bar.
