Screen lock up in contacts

I was in process of looking up someone in contacts, when it locked up. I cannot get it to shut down, close or any response. Can anyone give me advice other than going to a Verizon store to get fixed?

Hold the PWR and Volume Down buttons at the same time. It will make the phone reboot.

No crap? Seriously? That happened to me too a couple days ago and I had to reboot. That's crazy!
