Rooting Droid 4 on 4.1.2?

Hey last night I fastbooted because my phone was acting up really bad. Now I'm looking every where for a 4.2.1 exploit but I can't find a working one. I updated all the Moto drivers, and I have USB debugging enabled, as well as open source apps. Just one main question:

1) Since I fastbooted to 4.1.2, can I fastboot to an earlier firmware? Say, ICS? Or 4.1.x?

You cannot fastboot to a lower firmware or you will brick your phone. For rooting a D4 on 4.1.2 you'll want to use the Razr Blade utility.

Yeah that's what I've been trying to use. I'm gonna update the drivers one last time and see if that changes anything (hopefully). Thanks.

People recommend switching from usb mode to media mode, or trying different usb ports. The Razr Blade utility is a little buggy, I've rooted my D4 several times and never on the first try.
