Rooted - Home and search buttons will not work after reboot

On my OG Droid that is rooted for the last two weeks now after flashing a new rom using clockwork recovery everything works fine until things start getting sluggish after running without a reboot for 3-4 days, so I reboot and everything works fine after the reboot except my home and search buttons dont work. I have haptic feedback turned on and they are still vibrating so I know the phone is sensing me touching the home button, but nothing happens. Its not too big of an issue because I can still use the back button to get out of an app, its just annoying as hell. If I do a full wipe and reflash the rom the problem goes away, but I really dont want to have to do that every time my phone needs a reboot.

Any help would be much appreciated.
