RESCUE SQUAD!!!! Droid won't turn on at all...

Okay, the rundown. Running D2 (obviously), Team DeFuse Fission Vanilla 2.1.RC3.
(2.3.20 software ver.)

So i let my phone run dead today. No big deal, noticed the camera app was prompting force close when i tried to take pics of my car.... okay, whatever. screw it.

Get to the auto hobby shop, phone runs dead. Left it dead for about an hour-ish. Got home, threw it on the charger. (Side note, it doesnt turn on, per se, when it charges from off - it just shows a battery meter. No actual Android OS running)

Been about 3 or 4 hours since i plugged it in. Pull it off charger, hold the power button. nothing. Pulled the battery, let it sit for about 5 minutes, threw it back in, nothing. Now i'm at a loss.

I would flash sbf or if you can get into cw recovery flash a nandroid back up. Now you may have to charge your battery in another droid or get another charged battery in order to do so.

that is probably cuz your battery is shot... try letting it charge all night if that do not work you may need to go to vzw to get a replacement battery or see if they allow you to use one of their droids to charge your battery. Or if a friend has a droid or d2 see if they will switch batteries just long enough to recover your device and charge your battery.

Battery is brand new. Literally about two weeks old - the extended 1850mAh battery...

This phone is awesome when it works, but i hate it when it breaks!

Just for future reference, why would you be required to flash the sbf if the battery goes dead?

2 reasons:
Now you CAN NOT use sbf with a weak battery so if you have a new battery I would flash sbf asap unless you know for a fact it is not the rom or a bad phone but just a bad battery.
1) you want to be stock asap just in case something else is causing the problem

2) this will allow you to see if it is the rom or the device causing the issue.

Oh thanks. I sent you a pm.

A couple of things will keep your phone from coming on:

1) you not pushing in or holding the power button long enough

2) Your battery is shot.
3) your phone is not holding a charge or charging the battery.

Because even with a bad rom you will atleast see the M (now I may sound like I am about to contradict myself from my previous post but let my clarify). The problem with your phone is not the rom but either the battery or the phone. If you put your battery in another droid and it come on easily then you have a bigger problem. A charged battery will turn your phonr on. Now the question is how are you charging it. Are you charging it in the bad phone or are you using another device. I would try charging it in another droid to get a full charge then put it back in.
I just said the battery is the problem why am I screaming sbf. If you know it has nothing to do with the rom and you know your phone is not the problem then dont bother. If you suspect you may have a bad phone you do not want to return a rooted droid back to verzion. And that is why I am hollering sbf asap once you get a strong battery.
