Question about updating Milestone in Canada

Hey everyone
I recently brought a Milestone from Expansys. I am loving my Milestone
I live in Canada and was wondering does that effect if and when the update does come out will I be able to update from here?
Being a European phone does it matter that this Milestone is in Canada?

Or does the update happen regardless of location? (When 2.1 is finally released)

Also should I just find the European update.zip file and update it?

It will update based on what country the phone is from (ie: if it's an Italian phone, you will get the update when Italy gets the update, etc).

What I'd like to know is why you didn't just wait until Feb 18th when the Canadian Milestone comes out ... then you would at least have 3G here instead of EDGE.
